May 8-18, 2013

We took a repositioning cruise aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Jewel ship from San Pedro to Vancouver and then stayed in Vancouver for 3 nights before flying home to LA. We treated ourselves to a suite aboard ship and the greatest part was finding friends aboard the same ship- Brian & Tracy from LA and making 2 new great friends, Marilyn & Rosie from Vancouver.

Having dinner at the Moderno Churrascaria- amazing to have this aboard a ship

Surprise! Saw Brian across the dining room at breakfast and he and Tracy joined us.

Another one of Clemente's winnings- $240 on an 80cent bet

Our six-some had a blast over these few days

A celebratory song from the staff for Marilyn & Rosie

Just another decadent dessert

You don't have to tell them to smile!

After 2 days at sea with no ports, we arrived in Astoria Oregon on May 12 and walked around this small city.

The name above says it all

Flavel House Museum in Astoria- beautiful flowers everywhere

Walked along the waterfront

We chose to walk instead

He's everywhere!

Very neat looking area

Welcome to Canada

On Thursday, Marilyn & Rosie took Brian, Tracy, Clemente & I around on a tour of Vancouver. First stop was in Stanley Park at this totem village

And what a surprise! Here we ran across the 4 people we had dinner with at the Teppanyaki aboard ship 2 nights earlier and they are from LA also.

View of downtown Vancouver

We had dim sum lunch which was amazing- a ton of food! (and we were so proud of Tracy at her first dim sum)

Do what the Buddha does

Views from Granville Island

Great markets on Granville Island

Yes, you read it right- Smoked Salmon Candy (and Rosie made us try some too)

Goodbye to Marilyn & Rosie...for now!

Views in Stanley Park

What a beautiful couple!

Yes Dorothy, we are in Canada

Monkey see, Monkey do

Well, since Marilyn & Rosie drove us around to all the places on our "to-do" list, we had extra time so, of course, time for another casino

Walking around downtown Vancouver

Never seen so many varieties of restaurants in this town. Stopped for a snack at House of Empanadas

Finally, a bigger mouth than mine

Ok, last one of these

I think this was the Olympic cauldron when in Vancouver
