Took 8am bus to coastal town of Malaga today.
It was foggy/rainy until we came over the hillside into the city where the sun
came out- a little windy- but it kept you moving. We spent the day walking all
over the downtown area. There is a very large pedestrian area filled with
stores and restaurants. Also a Celebrity Cruise ship was in port so there were
more tourists than what we've had earlier in the trip. Walked through the local
market where they were selling every kind of fish and vegetables that looked
like they were on steroids. Visited the Malaga Cathedral and a couple other
Churches in the city. We had our Hot Chocolate and Churros finally. If you've
never had them in Spain, you've NEVER had them! The hot chocolate is extremely
thick and chocolaty (not sweet) and the churros have no sugar on them. When you
dip these hot sticks, the chocolate lines them perfectly. We checked out the
Roman ruins along the base of the old fort (too tired from yesterday to make
that climb up the hillside), then did some shopping. We walked through their
Contemporary Art Museum (now I know why it is free). It took all of 5 minutes.
We had a nice lunch at the cafeteria on the 7th floor of their El Corte Ingles
department store. The 2 hour bus ride back to Granada was quite interesting as
it went through several small towns). Pictures of the day appear here (don’t
forget you can click on the pictures to enlarge)
