Another long day- weather great!!

This is the building where we are renting an apartment in. The top floor with the balcony (right 3 windows) is where we are staying. This picture is being taken from across the street at the Palazzo Barberini. Great locale & apartment!!

Inside San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane Church at the end of our block where we are staying.

Inside St. Andrea al Quirinale- very different to have the statues looking like they are climbing around the cupola. We visited the Sacristry here also which was quite beautiful. You have to ask the organist to open the doors for you.

Outside the Presidential Palace. Our apartment is on the back wall of the gardens- very high wall so can't see in. LOTS of security here even though this one shot shows none.

Trajan's Forum

Climbing the Vittorio Emmanuel II Monument (which many refer to as the Wedding Cake or the Typewriter). It was built to commemorate the first King of Italy. It is free to go through the museum but you can pay 7 euro to take an elevator to the roof- no need, by the time you climb all these stairs, you can see the entire city already.

View from the Vittorio Emmanuel Monument over to two churches across the street.

Every Church has multiple places to make an offering. Some have different slots to give money for reroofing, general upkeep, pray for souls in Purgatory, etc. This was an example of a way to save on buying candles. Just slip some money in the slot and you can flip a switch and a light bulb lights a "candle"- Church of St Maria di Loreto

There were some beautiful mosaics here in St Maria di Loreto across the street from the V. Emmanuel Monument.

Inside the Basilica di S. Maria in Ara Coeli. This basilica has over 50 chandeliers hanging from the ceiling- quite different.

Statue of Romulus & Remus suckling at the teets of the she-wolf who they were raised by- the founders of Rome- inside the Capitoline Museum

Very well done museum- Capitoline- nice mix of paintings & statues such as this one here of Pope Innocent X

View from the Capitoline Museum looking down on the Roman Forum

Not up on my mythology so don't know who this is but looked interesting at the Capitoline Museum

Massive statue at the entry of the Capitoline.

Lunch! Pizza Capricciosa at the Bar Il Lucano behind the Pantheon

I'm sorry, but is that necessary? Horse & buggy rides in front of Pantheon.

Front of the Pantheon

Inside the Church of San Ignatius

At the altar in the Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva is the final resting place of Saint Catherine of Siena

Ending our day with a gelato from Giolitti- forget DQ and Pinkberry, gelato is the way to go!!
