Monday Dec 1 On to Dusseldorf

After breakfast at our hotel in Rothenberg, we took trains to Dusseldorf. It was about 4 1/2 hours total on 3 trains. The timing and connections worked well. It was raining slightly when we left Rothenberg but fine by the time we got to Dusseldorf. We got to ride in the nose of the train so you could watch out the front window where you were heading. When arriving in Dusseldorf, we walked 6 blocks to our hotel. The apartment is very modern and has all we need. The deal I got did not include breakfast but I was saving $80 per night so I'm fine with that. I asked the clerk how much if we wanted to pay one morning- 18 euro per person (about $22.50). I don't think any breakfast is worth $45 for the 2 of us. We ended up buying some breads, jams, yogurts and odds & ends of things we don't have in US and we'll be fine. We have a stovetop, microwave & refrigerator. It was kind of a tiring day so we just walked a couple blocks from the apartment but didn't venture any further- early night.
